Rob grew up with dogs from childhood thru college and now has 2 rat terriers named Emilia and Chloé.
He’s lived in Greenpoint Brooklyn for 10 years and has since been an active member of the dog community, helping put up the first Greenpoint Dog Run in the McGorlick Park .

Rob and partner Bea Boado opened District Dog Boutique and Spa in 2007, a natural & organic pet supplies store that focuses in educating consumers about the benefits of feeding their animals a healthy diet. At the store they’ve held free events like Pet first Aid, Meet the trainer and in October they hosted the First Greenpoint Dog Halloween Parade.

5 years ago he opened his own digital imaging studio, Batch-NY, thru which he does work for major magazines like Condé nast, New York Magazine, National Geographic Traveler.

Opening a dog rescue has been Rob’s longtime dream. Thru his work at the store he’s witness first hand the necessity for a rescue and rehabilitation center in Greenpoint, an area known for its growing dog population. rob@doghabitat.org

Twelve years ago Jay Lombard rescued a puppy from an abandoned litter and since that day, Skyler, a black lab/border collie has been by his side. A few years later, Cooper, a border collie/terrier joined the pack and the threesome are often spotted walking near their home in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY.

Jay has ten years of non-profit development experience in the philanthropic cosmos of New York City and is responsible for raising over $4 Million annually for an independent school on the upper west side.

When he is not at work he enjoys lounging in his backyard with Skyler and Cooper or takes the ‘pups’ to visit friends and family in Massachusetts and Maine. Although not a New Yorker by birth he considers Brooklyn ‘home’.

He is passionate about animal welfare and the 3 R’s (rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home) and is honored to be a founding member of Dog Habitat Rescue – the most rewarding job in the world.
